  • EXPLORE / TŪHURA

    EXPLORE / TŪHURA learning intentions:

    • We are EXPLORING Algebra by finding and representing relationships in spatial and number patterns, using tables and graphs and by discovering general rules for linear relationships.
    • We are EXPLORING units by interpreting different quantities
    • We are EXPLORING unit conversions by connecting different units
    • We are EXPLORING Area, perimeter and volume of 2D and 3D shapes

Thank you for having completed all the tasks assigned to you in your mathsbuddy. Well done all. Your maths assignment on the PPDAC cycle has been completed and uploaded by all, so well done. I know it has been a challenging time for you with the Covid 19 breaks but you have successfully faced it.

This term and the next our context will be The Amazing Race. We are going to have lots of fun flying kites and racing our cars which we will be making in science.

    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    • Draw a kite.

    • Calculate the perimeter, area, congruent side lengths, angles, line of symmetry

    • Create an algebraic  rule to calculate perimeter and area of kite.

    Activities:

    1. Draw and label a kite
    2. Label and calculate area, perimeter, angles, lengths
    3. identify congruent shapes, sides, angles
    4. Make a kite and string it
    5. Fly the kite - connect with the science of flight - watch video.

    Follow Up Tasks:
    1. Take a video of your kite flying.

    2. Calculate the length of the string

    3. Measure the angle of the string to the ground.

    4. Calculate height of the kite using Trig ratio.
