TERM 4: WEEK 1
Nau mai, hoki mai ki te kura! (Welcome back to school!)Kia Ora Y10. We continue working on our context of 'Work Experience' and complete our WorkReady Portfolio on MyMahi.Also this is 'KINDNESS WEEK.' There will be many activities held within our whanau as well as at school level including the Pink Shirt Day on Friday.
Remember to have your reading books with you in all English sessions. We are also learning 'Persuasive Writing’ this week.
Big Idea: ‘Work Experience.’Activities:
-Completing our work ready portfolio on MyMahi.
-Participating in 'Kindness Week' activities.
-Learning 'Persuasive Writing.'

We are exploring....... strategies to make sense of the texts by reading & understanding different kinds of texts
We are exploring....... points of view of the writer/s and characters, ideas, audience & purpose of the texts by integrating sources of information to form our own ideas
We are exploring....... effective writing by applying our understanding about different genres of writing such as writing to describe, explain, narrate, inform, persuade etc.
We are exploring.......ways to convey our ideas on a range of topics for different purposes and audiences by understanding, constructing and applying content, language and text forms in our writing

Success Criteria: (I can)
-explore workplaces for my work experience and successfully secure a workplace for myself.
-confidently develop work skills and use them in my work experience.
-clearly make connections among my school work, work experience and the real world.
-think critically about texts with understanding & confidence and recognise, understand and consider how texts are constructed for a range of purposes, audiences, and situations
-construct texts (C.V., Cover Letter, Emails to employers, work experience reflection) that demonstrate an understanding of purpose and audience through deliberate choice of content, language, and text form and can seek feedback to make changes to texts to improve clarity, meaning, and effect
-use a wide range of verbal & written language features and an increasing range of vocabulary to communicate precise meaning & effect, to sustain interest and to achieve a sense of coherence when constructing texts
