- We are FOCUSING on the skills required to perform as part of an ensemble
Welcome back to school!
During the lockdown we explored different New Zealand songs that we can learn to perform for New Zealand Music Month.
As we return back to school, we will be getting into the groups that we have formed and we will begin learning to play these songs for a future performance.
Success criteria - I can/have...
- Formed a group to perform a song
- Chosen a NZ song/waiata to perform and have the correct resources to learn the song
- Describe the skills needed to perform a song live - individual skills and ensemble skills
Activities:
- In groups, discuss what performance skills you'll need to work on over the rest of the term
- Listen to and familiarise with the music you will be learning
- Plan out rehearsals for your group
New procedures in class
- Don't use the bag cupboard; put bags under table so nobody trips up on them
- Do not touch instruments unless instructed
- If used, instruments must be cleaned before and after using with disinfectant and a paper towel
- Each week, nominate one person to wipe down the table at the end of the session
- Hand sanitiser is available, use regularly
- Practice rooms - door handles and surfaces to be sanitised after using
