Blues Music
This term we are going to be exploring and understanding one of the most important and influential style of music - Blues. We'll look at the history of the style and what kind of impact it has had on popular music. We'll learn how the music is constructed and have a go at playing the 12-bar-blues in groups. Later in the term we'll also look at the Blues Scale and have a go at improvising on our instruments too.
Learning intention:
Explore the history and musical elements of the Blues.Week Four Activities:
- Recap - the 12-bar blues form
- Create variations on the 12-bar form through extensions or chord changes
- Write some lyrics that fit the Blues form
Success criteria - you can/have:
- Played a 12-bar Blues that has some variation to the standard form
- Written lyrics that fit the 12-bar structure (using AAB lyrical form or otherwise)
- Practiced your new blues song!
