Blues Music
This term we are going to be exploring and understanding one of the most important and influential style of music - Blues. We'll look at the history of the style and what kind of impact it has had on popular music. We'll learn how the music is constructed and have a go at playing the 12-bar-blues in groups. Later in the term we'll also look at the Blues Scale and have a go at improvising on our instruments too.
Learning intention:
Explore the history and musical elements of the Blues.Week Three Activities:
- Recap - the form and chords used in the Blues
- Learn to play the blues!
- Practice the blues on our instruments in different styles with different peers
Success criteria - you can/have:
- Describe the standard structure, or form, of the Blues
- Name the three chords used in a Blues song - in different keys
- Play a 12-bar blues on an instrument
