The perfect How-To-Draw-Cartoons for beginners! Learn how to draw wacky cartoons from every letter of the alphabet.
Through this DEEP you will be learning the language of the worlds fastest growing economy. Hindi will be seen as a very important language to learn and understand in the near future.
You are going to explore different forms of traditional Chinese art, such as Chinese calligraphy and ink wash painting. You will learn how to handle the brush and to use strokes and lines to form Chinese characters and pictures in style. Inspiration will come from well-known artists' work and your own imagination! All are welcome.

This class would combine clay crafting with food design. Students would be taught techniques of using polymer clay to create realistic looking miniature food. These can be turned into jewellery as a great gift idea. A small fee to cover the cost of materials would apply.
Learn how to create a short film using green screens and your very own drawings. We will be drawing on the history of Aotearoa to create in this course.
WASGIJ is "jigsaw" spelled backwards, is an innovative puzzle concept in which the picture on the box is merely a clue for the puzzle you will be putting together. The image on the box depicts a cartoonish scene of surprise and tumult. This DEEP will help increased your problem solving skills and get your imagination working.

In this DEEP you will unleash your imagination and creativity and use your logic thinking and constructive problem solving skills alongside with LEGO to build different and an unlimited number of objects.
Are you concerned about climate change and our environment? Would you like to learn about protecting our planet and becoming a change maker and making a positive difference to our school, community, city, country and planet? In this DEEP we will look at recycling, pest control, plant protection and learning about positive ways to make a difference to where we live. You will have the opportunity to be empowered to create ideas to make a positive change. This DEEP will also involve the current Enviro Council students and if you are passionate and contribute to this DEEP you will have an opportunity to join this School Council. This DEEP may involve some small field trips. We need a dedicated team to move us in the right direction. Please only apply if you think this DEEP suits your passion for the environment.
Try out a new change in lifestyle through yoga,healthy eating,learning the benefits of meditation,positive thinking ,creating an healthy awareness each month (eg: Heart Foundation).As an outcome, you will be creating an awareness for healthy living and promoting healthy living in your school and community.

This class will examine the myth of unidentified flying objects using a critical thinking lens.
Top Trumps is a fun card game and a great way to expand your general knowledge. Topics that will be discussed include ocean creatures, predators of the world, wonders of the world, dinosaurs and many more. This popular card game will help you develop your numeracy and logic skills. Come and try this factual, educational and very competitive card game.
Have the opportunity to come and make some art for your central Whanau space. There will be opportunities for independent and group tasks throughout the term and lots of different media
Are you interested in basketball? Learn all the key skills involved in basketball and work to up your skills.
This DEEP is for students who would like to learn to play volleyball
Are you looking at learning some football skills? Learn the rules of the game? You will do this through playing mini games of football on the field.
In this DEEP you will learn the skills and art of Self Defence.
The perfect game to learn for the summer. A fun combination of a variety of sports such as American football, netball and basketball and played with a frisbee! Learn the basic rules and skills of this sport that is growing quickly in New Zealand. And get involved with an league in the community.
This is an opportunity to learn about the aboriginal art culture and create your very own masterpiece to retell a story. Paints, drawing and learning about the culture is a focus of the course.

Do you have a sweet tooth and love to bake? Enrol in baking and learn how to make delicious cookies and cakes. Sweet treats and good eats in the kitchen! Payment for this class needs to be made before class starts. As an outcome, you will be able to take recipes home to make for your family.
Do you plan to visit or work in a country where French is one of the main languages? Then this is the DEEP for you. Expose yourself to the French language.
Are you interested in learning how to make your very own computer program? In this DEEP you will learn how to make a simple program using the BASIC programming language. You will be able to code your own simple games, or customise existing games.
Learn how to cooperate with a group and solve all kinds of problems though playing the tabletop game Dungeons and Dragons
In this DEEP, you will learn how to play mahjong, one of Chinese people’s favourite pastimes. You will learn the basic strategies on how to play mahjong through attacking and defending from other players and have fun playing against each other.
In this DEEP you will explore and learn the different Māori designs and patterns.
Do you like getting creative with your hands? If so, come to this DEEP and learn how to make lanterns, origami, paper sculpturing, kites, and so on.

Quilling is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is rolled, looped, curled, twisted, and otherwise manipulated to create shapes that make up designs to decorate greetings cards, pictures, boxes, eggs, and to make models, jewelry, mobiles, etc.
Come along and join this DEEP session to learn more about this ART form.
Come and discover new games such as Quiddler and Rummy in this DEEP. If you enjoy playing games that require strategising and problem solving, you will be in your element.
This DEEP is for students pre-selected by the sports teacher.
Train and extend our able mathematicians and problem solvers by introducing them to different techniques of problem solving. The top students from this group would then participate in the Auckland Mathex competition. The students for this course will be identified by the teachers in the Whanau.
Keen to learn about the body and how movement is created? This DEEP will explore the functions of bones, muscles and joints and how they work together to create movement. An in-depth knowledge of this can help those who are interested in possible careers in sports, medicine, chiropractors, physiotherapists, masseuse, osteopaths and P.E. teachers. This is NOT a practical class.
Community Problem Solving is a team or individual activity in which students identify real problems and implement real solutions in a community – local, national, or international. A project usually takes about a year to complete. This DEEP is a taster of what CMPS has to offer.
This course is only for students identified and selected by Whānau. This course is only for students who have completed ALL of Stage 1 and Stage 2 Great Learner Progression. This course will provide support and mentoring to students beginning to gather portfolio evidence for Stage 3. The Stage 3 Great Learner Progression is about showing your understanding of how different aspects in fact work together and are related - Stage 3 Clusters. You then prepare 4x presentations to show you are in fact demonstrating and living each Stage 3 Cluster.

Interested in learning the Reo (language) of the Cook Islands and experiencing the fun and unique dance style of Hula? This deep will teach you all about the Cook Island culture!!
Do you enjoy writing for fun? Stories, poems, journals, etc. Then this DEEP is for you. It will also help to improve your overall writing abilities in a fun and creative way.

Enjoy making your own junk journal starting with the cover, inside pages, embellishing and final assembly. There will also be the opportunity to create a simple mini journal and a journal cover.
This DEEP is for experienced Minecraft builders only. You need to have a device with the full application already downloaded/purchased. For this DEEP class you will be required to enter competitions such as those organised by Genesis energy.

Would you like to learn a new sport or improve your tennis skill? Then this is the DEEP for you. We strongly encourage you to bring your own tennis Racquet for this DEEP.
Please bring your own mat to this class if you have one at home. Ready to try something different that will make you feel calmer, more focused, and stronger? We will be practising postures that will test your mental and physical strength and flexibility, along with breathing exercises and meditation which will help centre and ground your body, mind and spirit.
Orienteering is a fast outdoor adventure sport that uses a specialised map to find checkpoints in the fastest time possible. Come learn basic navigation and map reading skills. Beginners welcome. (some outdoor component)

MIT App Inventor is a visual programming environment that allows you to build fully functional apps for smartphones and tablets. You will be able to use blocks-based coding programs. So, if you want to move from technology consumption to technology creation then this DEEP is the right one for you.

A mosaic is a pattern or image made of small regular or irregular pieces of coloured stone, glass or ceramic, held in place by plaster/mortar, and covering a surface. In this DEEP you will be developing the art of creating mosaics. Only 15 students can be selected in this course.
With Scratch, you can program your own interactive stories, games, and animations — and share your creations with others in the online community. Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively — essential skills for life in the 21st century. Are you interested in animation? Through this course you will be using the Stop motion program to create animation movies. You will be required by the teacher to use your phones or other relevant devices.

Book vs Film- Do you have a passion for good books or films? A popular book will be read to you as a class, then we will watch the film based on that book and discuss the differences and what is better.

This class will focus on all things Disney. You may participate in quizzes, watch short videos, sing songs, and anything in between.
You will look and learn the different forms of performing arts that are involved with kapa haka and have a better understanding of the items performed on the stage eg: haka, moteatea, waiata tira, poi, waiata aringa. Students will be selected for this DEEP.
Use of art to express yourself mathematically. Learn to use a compass. Bisect angles and lines to create an art form. Learn to use dots to create a geometric design. As an outcome You will develop a good understanding of geometric terms and skills.

Design and construct an original and wearable garment from a variety of trash. You need to be prepared to spend three terms on this and the best will be selected to exhibit in the Auckland Middle Schools Art Exhibition, which will earn you a cultural cornerstone.

This is a DEEP for those who want to play a fast paced and skillful game of football. We will develop skills, play fast paced small sided/ pitch (4v4 or 5v5) games and look at tactics and strategies. In this deep we will also improve your fitness and preparation for games that you will be playing.
Sports Fruit Salad- Are you a keen sports and games player? This DEEP will focus on recreation games and sports, looking into a new sport every week! As an outcome you will be running a recreation afternoon for a younger age group.
